From: Mike Hill To: B.J. Guillot Thread: Failure with older FAX machine (1/3) Date: 21-Aug-97, 7:50am (Ref# 5638) I have a problem and wanted your advice. I run Win95, FD 2.12, BGFAX 1.70, and BNU 1.88b. It seems I can get faxes from a FAX modem, or from the newer fax machines which read the document, and then send from memory. From older machines, I get one line of data, and then the rest of the pages are blank. From my log file, all appears normal. Here is a sample, with the actual phone numbers replaced with xxx's: -------- 08-06-97 1.70 C:\FAX\BGFAX.EXE /fco:4 C:\fax 3 z /nf 08:57:49 Port 3, Initial DTE 57600, Multitasker Windows 4.0 dos box 08:57:50 f=[+FTI:" xxx xxx xxxx"] 08:57:50 Remote Identity [xxx xxx xxxx] 08:57:50 f=[+FCS:1,5,0,2,0,0,0,0] 08:57:50 c2dcsf [1,5,0,2,0,0,0,0] High Res, 14400, 1D-MH, 0 ms/sl 08:57:51 f=[OK] 08:57:51 ->[AT+FDR] 08:57:51 Sending +FDR 08:57:51 f=[AT+FDR] 08:57:54 f=[+FCS:1,5,0,2,0,0,0,0] 08:57:54 c2dcsf [1,5,0,2,0,0,0,0] High Res, 14400, 1D-MH, 0 ms/sl 08:57:56 f=[CONNECT] 08:58:39 page [#1] size [77610] cps [1798] lines [2221] 08:58:39 Extra Bytes; BOP=0, EOP=89 08:58:39 f=[+FPS:1,2227,0,0,0] 08:58:39 Page transfer status [+FPS:1,2227,0,0,0] <MCF> 08:58:40 f=[+FET:0] 08:58:40 f=[OK] 08:58:40 ->[AT+FDR] 08:58:40 Sending +FDR 08:58:40 f=[AT+FDR] 08:58:42 f=[CONNECT] 08:59:26 page [#2] size [78501] cps [1800] lines [2221] 08:59:26 Extra Bytes; BOP=0, EOP=98 08:59:26 f=[+FPS:1,2227,0,0,0] 08:59:26 Page transfer status [+FPS:1,2227,0,0,0] <MCF> 08:59:27 f=[+FET:0] 08:59:27 f=[OK] 08:59:27 ->[AT+FDR] 08:59:27 Sending +FDR 08:59:27 f=[AT+FDR] 08:59:29 f=[CONNECT] 09:00:10 page [#3] size [73615] cps [1800] lines [2222] 09:00:10 Extra Bytes; BOP=0, EOP=79 09:00:10 f=[+FPS:1,2228,0,0,0] 09:00:10 Page transfer status [+FPS:1,2228,0,0,0] <MCF> 09:00:11 f=[+FET:2] 09:00:11 f=[OK] 09:00:11 ->[AT+FDR] 09:00:11 Sending +FDR 09:00:11 f=[AT+FDR] 09:00:14 f=[+FHS:00] 09:00:14 call termination status code [00] 09:00:14 Successful fax reception 09:00:14 All pages received 09:00:14 Fax saved [C:\FAX\FAX0001.FAX] 09:00:14 size [229742] pages [3] lines [6664] elapsed time [02:25] 09:00:15 a=[OK] 09:00:15 ->[ATH0] 09:00:15 i=[ATH0] 09:00:16 i=[OK] 09:00:16 DTR Toggle 09:00:17 ->[AT+FCLASS=0] 09:00:17 i=[AT+FCLASS=0] 09:00:17 i=[OK] 09:00:17 ->[ATZ] 09:00:17 i=[ATZ] 09:00:18 i=[OK] 09:00:18 Shutdown ===================================================== Sorry for the long quote, but perhaps this will help you understand. I really would like to get your program working. It seems I can use it a little when having documents sent to me from modems, and when using a fax-back service. What I cannot seem to use is the real world where my offices want to send me schedules, or other company info. I would appreciate advice on what to try next. I have tried different baud rates for locking the fossil. I have tried full screen or windowed mode for the FD batch file. I think it might be a timing problem, but it sure is a puzzle for me. I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the three pages listed aove. Empty pages are usually "small", where as each of your pages are about 70K and about 2200 scan lines (about right for a high resolution page.) Perhaps you need to send me the actual FAX0001.FAX file to examine. Regards, bgfax author

You can tell the faxer to press the "START" (or "SEND") button on their fax machine IMMEDIATELY after dialing the last digit of the telephone number, and this helps a bit. Regards, bgfax author
