From: Simon Harmel To: All Thread: 2D compression (1/5) Date: 24-Apr-97, 10:12am (Ref# 5277) Hi All! I recieved a fax yesterday with 2D compression. Needless to say it was illegable. Since view.exe doesnt support 2D compression, is there any way I can view this fax? Thanks! ________ _________________ (_ |_| |____)imon | |armel - SYSOP of Explosion BBS - 01732 773369 ... You can use the ZFAX program, available from ZyXEL's web site, to view faxes compressed with 2D encoding. You should be able to disable the receiving of 2D faxes (which will force a fallback to 1D mode) to prevent this problem in the future. (Unless you are using a ZyXEL specific mode, which I believe there is a bug that prevents the disabling of 2D encoded faxes.) Regards, bgfax author

Actually, I changed versiosn to 1.70, from 1.55 and suddenly view.exe was able to view the fax much much better...still gave me a warning though. I'm using ZyXEL format in BGfax if thats what you mean? ________ _________________ (_ |_| |____)imon | |armel - SYSOP of Explosion BBS - 01732 773369 ... Yes, some (very slow) work has been done with 2D stuff, but I still am having a hard time figuring it out. The reference documents I have are horrible (the T.4 documents never show a complete scan line that is decoded, only partial decodes), and the source code from other fax programs I've looked at are nearly incomprehensible to me.
