From: Sean Rima To: All Thread: BGFax / USR Modem / No IDs (1/6) Date: 18-Jun-97, 5:53pm (Ref# 5413) Hi All, I have tried both 1.70 and 1.70e and I still cannot get BGFax to grab the remote Fax ID. I use the one at work which I know sends out an ID but BGFax never seems to grab it. I know it is only a minor thing but it would help me when I try to sort out Faxes. I like the option in 1.70e to use a different port when sending. Bye bye! Sean DSP BBS - Reading England PPP Dialin Node available. This depends on the speed of your computer and what kind of modem are you using. For modems like USR's and PPI's which only report "+FCO" (or "+FCON"), if it takes too long for BGFAX to load, you can sometimes miss the ID. For modems like the Supra and Zoom, which report "FAX" before the "+FCON", you can usually get the ID without a problem. Alternatively, you can try a Class 1 configuration, but timing gets even more important, but you may get the extra few seconds you need to get the ID. Regards, bgfax author

The transistion from when the mailer (we're talking "rear end" mode, exits and calls BGFAX to receive the fax. The 586-133 and new 1.08Gb HD solved that problem. :) If you're using host mode, B.J. might have some better ideas as even with my older setup I had no problems with the remote fax id in host mode. If you have the memory, BGFAX (check the docs) can be "partially" loaded as a TSR, then when it's called, it starts loading and receiving the fax in a more timely fashion. (rear end mode) SR> I like the option in 1.70e to use a different port when sending.
