I managed to make a hack which would allow FD & BGFAX to run with WinFOSSIL.
Change your front door batch file (the part where you run BGFAX) to
run like this:

:FAXCALL                                      | This causes windows to
   START C:\COMMAND /C C:\FD\FAX.BAT          | start a new task and
   EXIT                                       | end the current task.
                                              | Thus resetting WinFOSSIL.


Make your fax batch file look like this:

@ECHO OFF                                           | This will retrieve
CD C:\FD\FAX                                        | your fax and restart
BGFAX /FAX:541_732_3002 C:\FD\FAX\FAXES 2 Z /PIN:1  | the BBS when finished.
START C:\WINDOWS\STARTM~1\PROGRAMS\STARTUP\BBS.PIF
EXIT


Only problem is that BGFAX must be started as an active application for
this to work.

I am still waiting for a better version of WinFOSSIL before I will switch
over to it. As of late, I can't even find the WinFOSSIL web site.

Currently using FD 2.12 and BGFAX 1.70E and WinFossil 1.11.  Oddly, it
all works here fine on an AMI 586-133.  My only anomally is when the
BBS dos box is in the background, it takes 2 rings to answer, but once
answered, both data and faxes are received just fine.

The idle sensitivity is set one notch from the far left.

I've given that whole box 4mb XMS, 4mb EMS, and DPMI is Auto.
