From: Mike Hill To: B. J. Guillot Thread: Acer 33.6 modem (1/4) Date: 15-Sep-97, 1:47am (Ref# 5723) Still working on a replacement modem for the USR Sportster. I am trying to understand and configure an Acer 33.6, which uses a Rockwell chipset. In your README.TXT file with version 1.70, it mentions checking the manufacturer with the command: "AT+FMFR?" but all I get is an error. I also get an error when I try and examine the S-register 192. It mentions this register for helping to eliminate missed faxes from those who do not push SEND on their machines fast enough. Thoughts or ideas would be welcome. Some wisdom for today is... Thoughts or ideas would be welcome. S192 is a register used exclusively by the Supra modems. If AT+FMFR? reports an ERROR message, it is possible that your modem may not support Class 2 operation. From a terminal program, type "AT+FCLASS=?" and the modem will report back a set of fax classes supported. Let me know what it says. Regards, bgfax author

I guess I need to start again, in making it work, but I am not sure which of your help files I should follow. o All the best, \ _\/^\ _ Mike Hill (_)=>#(_) Some wisdom for today is... You'll need to attempt to do a Class 1 configuration, rather than a Class 2 configuration. This assumes that this particular modem still has the adaptive answering feature, but it might not. I just don't know. Regards bgfax author
