From: Mike Hill To: B.J. Guillot Thread: Problems with reception (1/3) Date: 04-Sep-97, 12:09am (Ref# 5672) My registration was mailed Tuesday morning. I also continue to have problems trying to recieve from real fax machines. From fax cards, or fax services where a computer is doing the sending it works. It will not work with any of 4 different local/long distance offices which try and send me things. Here is an example from my log from yesterday: -------- 09-03-97 1.70 C:\FAX\BGFAX.EXE /fco:4 C:\fax 3 z /nf 18:59:18 Port 3, Initial DTE 38400, Multitasker Windows 4.0 dos box 18:59:23 OK response timeout!!! 18:59:23 ->[AT+FDR] 18:59:23 Sending +FDR 18:59:23 f=[AT+FDR] 18:59:23 f=[+FCS:1,3,0,2,0,0,0,1] 18:59:23 c2dcsf [1,3,0,2,0,0,0,1] High Res, 9600, 1D-MH, 5 ms/sl 18:59:26 f=[CONNECT] 18:59:27 page [#1] size [1920] cps [] lines [1] 18:59:27 WARNING: RTC not detected (0) 18:59:27 Extra Bytes; BOP=0, EOP=0 18:59:27 f=[+FPS:1,0,0,0,0] 18:59:27 Page transfer status [+FPS:1,0,0,0,0] <MCF> 18:59:32 f=[+FTI:" 1xxx338xx94"] (real numbers replaced with x's) 18:59:32 Remote Identity [1xxx338xx94] 18:59:33 f=[+FCS:1,3,0,2,0,0,0,1] 18:59:39 f=[+FHS:A2] 18:59:39 call termination status code [A2] 18:59:39 Problematic fax reception (EOP) 18:59:39 Fax document incomplete 18:59:39 Fax saved [C:\FAX\FAX0007.FAX] 18:59:39 size [1948] pages [1] lines [1] elapsed time [00:21] 18:59:41 a=[OK] 18:59:41 ->[ATH0] 18:59:41 i=[ATH0] 18:59:41 i=[OK] 18:59:41 DTR Toggle 18:59:42 ->[AT+FCLASS=0] 18:59:42 i=[AT+FCLASS=0] 18:59:43 i=[OK] 18:59:43 ->[ATZ] 18:59:43 i=[ATZ] 18:59:43 i=[OK] 18:59:43 Shutdown ================== Any ideas on what things I might be able to try? Here is an example from my log from yesterday: Ah, you must be using a US Robotics modem. :-) If you KNOW the people that are faxing you, you can tell them to press the "START" (or "SEND") button on their fax machine IMMEDIATELY after dialing the last digit of the telephone number. If you don't know them (and you probably need to do this anyway), you may need to adjust the /FCO:nn value on your command line. You currently have it set to /FCO:4, try adjusting to to /FCO:8, /FCO:0, /FCO:2, or /FCO:6 and find the one that seems to work the best. If after all that trial-and-error, it is still not performing very well, we can try alternate fixes, e.g., using Class 1 instead of Class 2.0. Regards, bgfax author
