From: Jim Westbrook To: B.J. Guillot Thread: Back-end to Bink problem (1/5) Date: 04-Aug-97, 7:17pm (Ref# 5592) I'm having a problem getting bgfax (1.55 or 1.70) to work behind Binkley. Here's a clip from my Binkley.Log file: + 04 Aug 16:25:38 BINK begin, BinkleyTerm Version 2.60 -uSoft8.0 # 04 Aug 16:26:19 BINK Ring # 04 Aug 16:26:26 BINK +Fco : 04 Aug 16:26:27 BINK Spawning external mailer : 04 Aug 16:26:27 BINK Returned from external mailer * 04 Aug 16:26:31 BINK Seconds: 10 Tariff: 0 Fee: 0 System: FAX : 04 Aug 16:26:31 BINK Exit after receiving mail with errorlevel 101 + 04 Aug 16:26:31 BINK end, BinkleyTerm Version 2.60 -uSoft8.0 NOTE: the spawn/return occur within the same second! Here's the EXTMAIL.BAT file which is run from the g:\bt directory: set bgfax=g:\bt\bgfax cd bgfax g:\bt\bgfax\bgfax /fco:4 g:\bt\bgfax 1 Q cd .. set bgfax= Here's the corresponding clip from the bgfax.log file: ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ 08-04-97 1.55 g:\bt\bgfax\BGFAX.EXE /fco:4 g:\bt\bgfax 1 Q 16:26:27 Port 1, Initial DTE 115200 16:26:27 OK response timeout 16:26:27 ->[AT+FDR] 16:26:27 Sending +FDR 16:26:27 f=[ERROR] 16:26:27 live abort [ERROR] 16:26:27 ->[ATH0] 16:26:27 i=[OK] 16:26:27 ->[AT+FCLASS=0] 16:26:27 i=[OK] 16:26:27 ->[ATZ] 16:26:27 i=[OK] 16:26:27 Shutdown Here's the really odd part - this exact setup worked once when I originally attempted to setup bgfax as a "back-door" to Binkley. After it worked (in March '97), I put Binkley back into data only mode until today when I had a need to receive a fax. Today (8-4-97), Binkley spawns the ExtMail.Bat which launches bgfax. Bgfax bombs, then returns control to Binkley. The bgfax.log from v1.70 is slightly different, but the result is the same - no fax received. Anyone have an idea as to why this setup USED TO work and now doesn't? The modem is a USR V.E. Thanks for any help, Jim PS: "bgfax /host" received the fax just fine, but I had to be around to put the bbs back online when it completed. --- GoldED 2.40.P0623+ * Origin: JimNet - Austin, TX (512)837-0953 (1:382/29)

The .bat file is stored in that directory and it is the current directory when the batch is spawned by Binkley. Show me the similar clip from BGFAX 1.70 and I can see if I see anything different. Otherwise, if you are stuck with 1.55, try just using /FCO without the ":4" addition. Regards, bgfax author

First, I'm sorry I missed your return voice call--we'd gone out of town for about a week. As for the 1.70 log clip, I'll have to reconfig and repeat the test. I should get it done by tomorrow sometime. Thanks for the help, Jim ... Reloading is the best method of recycling brass. --- GoldED 2.40.P0623+ * Origin: JimNet - Austin, TX (512)837-0953 (1:382/29)
