Hi All,
i've just bought a new USRobotics Sportster 33.6 Voice (not flash), but
i don't know what initial and answer strings i should use.... i tried to
use the strings for the class 2.0 included in FD-USR.TXT, but it doesn't
work; it answers always in fax mode.

Answering only in fax mode is quite usual for USR modems.  Usually they
have a problem detecting fax, so I believe you have a setup problem.
 
Show me your init and answer strings, and I bet we just have a typo, or
something else that is easy to fix.
