I have had a look at BGFax, and considering installing it ...have played around and this that I can get it to work, running under W95, Front Door 2.12 and Win Fossil, but I have a question....can any one reccomend a dos proggie or method to write to the com port directly, inorder to set up the modem and save the settings, as FD setting are all used up by BG Fax... I have tried COM >>>> etc and it doesn't seem to work..... any ideas???? I [----------^^^^ you said the above ^^^^-----------] Use FD's terminal pgm. to set and save the setting for your modem. You should have already done that and be using using ATZ to re-init the modem instead of a complex init string again and again other than BGFAX's additional init. Any time you change your modem setting that should be the process. If not FD then any comm pgm. and use it's int. terminal mode. good luck -_-_-Bill --- * Origin: Bordertown/TEXMEX bbs (419)862-3423 (1:234/43)

I have tried COM >>>> et > and it doesn't seem to work..... any ideas???? Regular modem init strings can be saved into the modem's NVRAM. Seem your modem manual and look up the &W command for more information on how to use NVRAM to your advantage. Using the ECHO xxxx > COM1 method is not very good in your situation, because any time the modem is reset in FD any of your "ECHO"'ed commands will be lost. > P.S. is there a BGFax version for windows????????? BGFAX32 has been released for 3 months (and beta tested for much longer than that). BGFAX32 is a console-mode (text mode, not GUI) program. If you are using FD, then you must continue to use BGFAX for DOS. Only if FD comes out with a Win32 version can you use BGFAX32. Regards, bgfax author
