From: Alto Speckhardt To: Alle Thread: Modem trouble (1/3) Date: 16-Nov-97, 1:19pm (Ref# 5833) Servus! I'm facing two problems: 1.) Some modem I use chokes on the ATH0Z-command sent by BGFax. ATHZ would pass ok, but ATH0Z returns an error. Is there any way to change this command? 2.) When receiving a fax from this modem (14.4 internal, class 2) my "main modem" (ELSA Microlink ISDN/TL.V34, also class 2) just doesn't do it. BGFax reports "RTC not detected", the received fax then consists of just the header line. The sender is presented with "+FHNG: 43!" which I believe means "DTE to DCE underrun". Swell, like I know what that means. Is the problem for the FHNG 43 the sending or the receiving side? What can be done to solve that? (After all, the sender modem is internal - How can there be a underrun in that case?) RU! (48o18'13''N/10o10'32''E) --- GoldED 2.50+ * Origin: Weissenhorn Ost (2:2487/4000)

I wrote down this information few years ago when i broken my modem firmware. It looks like a receiver problem. Try to downgrade at 9600 everything will work fine again. If you are using BGFAX in /HOST or /SEND mode, you can change the ss= entry (or add the entry if it does not exist) in the BGFAX.CNF file, ss=ATHZ (The default, if this line does not exist is, ss=ATH0Z) > 2.) (After all, the sender modem is internal - How can there > a underrun in that case?) DTE to DCE underrun sounds like BGFAX, for some reason, is not able to pump bytes out the com port fast enough, on the fax sending modem. It could be a flow-control related problem. Are you sending and receiving the fax on the same computer or from different computers? If you are doing it on the same computer, this can sometimes cause problems, especially with not-very-nice operating systems. What happens if you use the /NB switch on the sender? The /NB switch tells BGFAX to Not send the Banner. Regards, bgfax author
